Ventilated for premium comfort during battle, the 2012/13 Arsenal Football Club Replica Men's Soccer Jersey features sweat-wicking fabric and vibrant Gunners detail that takes the field in iconic style. After extensive testing Nike have produced a shirt with Double Knit construction which is 50% more breathable, has 210% more stretch and is 21% stronger than fabric used in previous Nike kits.
The origins of the blue sleeve design features lie in Herbert Chapman’s innovative approach to the game. Arsenal manager between 1925 and 1934, Chapman led the Club to three league titles and an FA cup victory. White sleeves were added to the previously all-red shirt and hoops were also introduced to the socks. The rationale behind these innovations was that Chapman wanted to maximise player visibility, making it easier for his players to pick each other out on the field of play.
The shirt includes further heritage details in the outer neck with a graphic references to the WM formation that Chapman pioneered so successfully. The inner back has a graphic “Victoria, Concordia, Crescit” which has been Arsenal’s motto since 1948 and translates as “Victory through harmony”.
